QNAP MINING

  • So I have a TS-453 PRO. I want to turn it into a mining rig. I got 4 x 4TB drives.

    Here is unit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MEW1272/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

What do I need to do to have it run automatically?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Im not sure about what you mean by having it run automatically.. But first you will have to plot the device with the wallet app which will take a while with that many TB's ... here is a link to the tutorial on how to plot drives and use them to mine ... https://forums.burst-team.us/topic/165/videos-step-by-step-video-guides-how-to-mine-burstcoins As for making it run automatically without the wallet I think you would have to download another miner such as blago's miner but I'm not sure I'm pretty new here.

  • @Daxy1 Hi, I have the 563 model and here's what i did:
Installed a Windows machine using virtualization station (Ubuntu didnt work for me).
Created a volume storage (from the created pool) and connected the volume to the VM.
Installed the wallet on Windows VM, plotted and started to mine.
It is working without issues so far.

Plotting the 4TB volume can take up to 1 week on the vm !! I made smaller volumes for faster plotting and keep adding one volume at a time after finishing a plot.

I know it's not the best setup but its working fine.
currently, I'm researching creating VJBOD or iSCSI and connecting it to an old windows machine to gain better speed and manageability.

    Cheers

  • Model 453 comes with Linux station .. so no need to VM.
Directly install a Linux wallet a Linux Miner to a desired volume and start mining.
