Difference between default, AVX and OpenCL mining
-
Can anyone tell me the difference in the different mining options. When mining, I typically choose default. What is the difference between default, AVX and OpenCL?
Thanks

@kurttasche I have the same question. I think AVX is faster. Why? I don't know. I will try to figure this out.

@kurttasche I found this link, but still we need an answer from the developers @luxe .

they can provide a better explanation.

@kurttasche Hey, after a quick search on the forum :
@gpedro said in A total mess....:
Use the AVX if the miner says on top that your PC is compatible (should be...) the CL miner is to read the plots using your GPU and it's a faster.
@haitch said in Mining Setting: Default, AVX, or ClosedCl?:
@Lucifer8 Try them, see if they'll run for you, and how they perform compared to default.
I personally mine with AVX

@botan AVX stands for Advanced Vector Extensions, a fancy way to say a CPU has extra inbuilt commands. If a CPU has this option it can run the miner code in a faster way than the standard. OpenCL refers to the (Java GPU Miner: jMiner). Since this uses the GPU as well as CPU it is the faster of the three miners.
