Need help build a NAS type Setup
-
ok this is a little bit strange question coming from me ( a techie ) but i am at a loss right now as to how to go about building myself a file server system or something like a NAS system for as cheap as possible
I have several hard drives of the sata type

@Njcfamily31907 External SAS/SATA chassis ( https://unixsurplus.myshopify.com/collections/rackable-servers/products/rackable-16-bay-3-5-sas-sata-ssd-san-nas-jbod-3u-storage-array-se3016) + PC + SAS Controller with external port. Fillup - plot, mine.

@Njcfamily31907 you don't need to do RAID also, it works faster as JBOD. I had to learn the hard way lol

Hey @haitch
As a server and what kind of drives can it handle?

@Njcfamily31907 Will work nicely as an all in one miner. You'll need to stripe some of the drives, and bear in mind that 2.5" drives are a) smaller and b) more exppensive than 3.5" drives.
