Need to find a particular power strip
-
Anyone know where I can find a power strip like this or similar (for fitting large plugs/adapters like from a HDD)?
-
@Propagandalf well its not about the power strip, but sometimes ppl doesnt know about this thing. So make sure your outlet can handle the power you about to pull from it. Why? Worst case? The wires that comes to your outlet may catch fire (melt?) . Not worst? Constant blowing of fuse
Be safe, have fun

Closest thing I could find.

@LithStud Thanks for the warning, I will make sure I have UPS and proper diameter wiring made to support the amount of power I will be drawing from the wall, as well as having high enough amp fuses
Lots of things to think about. But seriously, "power towers" or "pivot power strips" don't seem to be available in my country, as if no one in Norway ever had a problem with too big plugs next to each other! Strange... I see it is possible to buy cable extenders for power strips which is pretty cool, never knew that existed. Same principle as PCIe risers in a way.

@cryptojam Thanks!
Link 1: It does say that the outlets support worldwide plugs whatever that means... I don't know enough about electrics to know what type of sockets I can safely plug a "Plug E" into (the one's we use here).
Link 2: This can come in handy if I have HDDs with a "foreign" plug, plug them into a "foreign" power strip, and then use the adapter you linked to for the plug of the power strip in order to fit it into the Type F socket in the wall.
Link 3: If I understand it correctly, I can use all kinds of plugs in this one, much like the one in your first link.
Conclusion: I will go for some variant of these universal power strips/towers, and just use a Plug E adapter to fit it in the Type F wall socket! Unless someone stops me with a fire hazard warning, I'm probably going to go for this solution. My way of thinking about this has officially changed.

I am no true expert myself but hope to be of some help.
This might be useful too if you have the extra $: Link: http://www.220-electronics.com/5000-watt-diamond-series-voltage-converter.html?gclid=CKGrpcnjx9ACFQuifgodYUYDcw

@Propagandalf This is my super strip xD
what's with the pink stickies? I hate the small lights so I got to cover them. xD

I've replaced nearly every HDD power supply with DC adapter cables. My external drives are powered through my pc power supply.
But you need to check the internal and external diameter, polarity and currency before doing something wrong
-
@maxpayne1256 I can't quite visualize how you are doing that. The DC plug, as seen in the picture you linked to, goes into the HDD, right? What does the other end look like that goes into your PSU, and where does it go?
-
@maxpayne1256 @jervis @cryptojam @LithStud I ended up buying a few of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/191913699609?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&var=490979371402&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT. My HDDs come with two different plugs, the Plug E (Norway style) and the UK plug (3 flat prongs). So, since I cannot find any good power strips for large, bulky plugs that fit Plug E, and the universal power strips did not ship to Norway, I went for the one in the link with the UK sockets, since I can choose those plugs for my HDDs. Then I only need to put a UK to Plug E adapter on the end of the power strip, and I should be able to draw power! It isn't the easiest of solutions, but it should work!
-
@Propagandalf Man, finding a plug e power strip is difficult. I'll keep trying and hope that your solution works well. I have a feeling you'll be ok.
Take care brother and keeps us updated.

@cryptojam Thanks, mate, I will give an update when the stuff arrives!

@cryptojam
I received my power strips a few days ago. They look intact, and I tried plugging the UK plugs into it, and it went smooth. The strips also look groovy and can take 13 big adapter bricks! Now I only need to use a UK to plug E adapter on the end of it, and I will be able to draw Norwegian power, hehe. I won't be able to try before in a few days, but unless you hear anything else from me, you can assume that the experiment worked.I also received some Seagate drives I ordered from US Amazon, and, not surprisingly, they came with US plugs, so now I have to buy a similar power strip for those, and stick a US to plug E on the end of that one as well!

Post some pics if you get a chance.
Thank you for the update!.

@cryptojam You're welcome, I will post the pics once I have received the final adapter.

This is a swivel power strip. The first power strip like this one I can see is from Belkin but that model is not highly commented by consumers. Now you can see many such power strips with swivel charging outlets for larger power plugs, like Tap swivel power strip.
