High Deadlines

  • I know we cant expect low deadlines all the time but are 900+ days deadlines normal? I seem to be getting lots of them compared to when I was last mining burst I never seen a deadline that high, not even close

I used burst client for win v0.3.9.6 to plot my drive, thanks in advance

  • @DigDeep Something seems way off, no confirmations either. Restart you miner and post a screenshot after the first read so we can investigate further.

@DigDeep How big is your plot? The mining difficulty is currently extremely high, so some plots may struggle to find decent DL's

Hi iKnow0 sorry yeah I have confirmations I only copied some of the deadlines sorry about that, but yeah that's why I thought I would ask if the high deadlines were normal these days as I've not mined since November so a lot might have changed since then alt text

Hi Haitch 1.81tb I do find the low deadlines also, but the lowest I've found on this setup is 8 hours. it just seems like the majority of my shares are really high compared to when I was only using 500gb on my last setup and it seemed like I was getting lots of minutes/hours shares, but like you say the difficulty is really high right now so that might have something to do with it.
xplotter was used just like last time which optimises the plot if I'm not mistaken, but I have a question. Does the CPU type make any difference when plotting? I ask because on my old PC I had a 32bit intel chipset but now I'm using 64bit AMD, I've been thinking about digging my old PC out and replotting with that to see if there's any improvements with my deadlines

  • @DigDeep The network has grown a lot in the last few months, so you will need larger plots to get better deadlines. Forget the 32bit PC, bigger plots is whats required.

  • @iKnow0 Thanks for your input looks like I jumped back in at the wrong time maybe or should never have stopped mining burst but I started getting into a variety of cryptos and lost interest in burst well preferred to use my resources to mine something else, I'm still curious though if the CPU make any difference when plotting like how different algorithms work better with different chipsets, can I ask do you see anything like the deadlines I'm getting? I've tried looking at other peoples logs but there doesn't seem to be anything recent

  • @DigDeep Personally, I prefer GPU plotting. Only because I can parallel plot harddrives. GPU plotting just has so much more headspace to point its the speed of the harddrive become the plotting bottleneck.

  • @DigDeep Reporting any deadline greater than 48hrs (172800 seconds) is just a waste of pool resources i.m.o., as your deadlines are higher than most pools target deadline.

The faster the CPU the better for plotting, with GPU's being faster than most CPU's. The two best plotters are Xplotter and the java GPU plotter. The other way to speed up plotting is to use a very fast temp drive, such as SSD or a RAID0 array, then copy the plot when finished to the target drive.

  • @Havoc Yeah I tried the GPU plotter but just couldn't figure out how to configure it for my HDD/GPU combination so just went with xplotter 😞

  • @DigDeep There is a readme file in the GPU plotter folder that explains it fairly well.

  • @iKnow0 just to confirm you personally don't see any deadlines been sent from your plots lets say higher then 100+ days?

  • @DigDeep They are found but not sent to pool.

Don't let Tross hear you say that .... 😉

  • @haitch lol 🙂

  • @iKnow0 Thanks
