plotting whole day and still 4 percent :(
-
I have been plotting my 6TB drive NTFS after 12 hours only 4 percent done. Is it this slow to plot a drive?
-
How many nonces per minute?
-
@jervis what operating system, cpu, gpu, how much ram, which program are you using to plot with? What plot size (that strange long number that looks something like "<your account number>_0_11280000_60000"?
-
only 1,500+ per minute nonces. i am using AMD3 cpu, 3 cores, 4 gb ram. 2 gb APU. Windows 10.
-
i am using the wallet's plotting.
-
@jervis You have a slightly different setup than me, but @daWallet or one of the other big guns will probably see this post and give better information than I can. At least when you show your hardware, others with the same setup might have answers.
-
@jervis Is your blockchain in the local wallet still downloading? This can take some CPU power away from your plotting - but only for 12 hours maximum. When your local wallet doesn't start or is synced then your CPU with 3 cores is just that fast. You have to plot only once at least. 6 TB is a nice big plot.
-
When I use the windows client I use 10-16 cores with 24mb ram. It takes me about 6 hours for 1 TB. So it would take about 36 hours for 6TB.
What I would do if I dont have a good GPU and have to use a normal desktop I would maybe just plot 500Gb - 1TB plots. It shouldnt make a difference if you have 1 plot or 12 plots on 1 Hdd.
-
@daWallet I dont know if my local wallet is downloading. i haven't opened it or i cant open it. it says it needs java. i have downloaded it like a week ago but still i can't open the local wallet. I don't know why it's taking so painstakingly slow.
-
@tross what's a cpu with 10-16 cores? I never knew there was such a CPU. is it like i10 or i17 or something?
-
It took me literally 8 days to plot 2TB on a laptop Intel cpu, 2 cores, 4 gb ram. Windows 7 Pro. Was not aware that we can do small plots and wouldn't make a difference.
-
@jervis When your local wallet is not syncing then you are plotting as fast as possible with CPU. You can plot in 500 GB chunks at night with all cores if you need your computer during daytime. The Win Client is made for that. You can just keep on plotting more and more. It will be alright.

@jervis Hp z600 2x x5550 cpu's <<its a workstation I bought for cpu mining but found busrt! I wish I would of got a hp z800 but have to do with what I got.
-
@alexmobile I dont think it makes much difference with total time but in my case I wanted to let the computer cool down.
-
@jervis if you can put a modernish GPU in there, like an R9-280X, and are willing to get a little dirty on the command line, there is a GPU plotter that is at least 10x faster than CPU plotting.
