Maintenance

Yesterday I ordered the parts for a new VM Server, and am going to be migrating the primary VM's over to it - hopefully this weekend. Due to the different processor architectures (Opteron to Threadripper) the VM's need to be shutdown during the migration. So during the migration there will be rolling downtimes on all primary VM's - including the forums, pools, wallets, gitLab and some VM's I host for other people. I expect the downtime to my be short - it's just the time to move the VM storage over to the new host. I don't have a definitive time for the migration currently, but will post prior to starting it.
The new server is the most expensive build I've ever done for myself, and should improve performance across the pools and forums at the beginning of each new block. All the storage on the new box is SSD, so no more spinning rust latencies.
Specs:
Threadripper 1950x - 16 Core/32 Thread
128GB DDR4 RAM
2 * 1TB SSDThis is going to free up capacity on my cluster, so I can resume making available VM's for Burst Projects, or other requirements. Again, if you have a Burst related project you want a host for, it's free, if you want a VM for something else, I do very reasonable rates.

Nice to hear that. Hopefully this will increase the performance of the 0-100 pool.
-
@ciscler I don't know - the existing hosts aren't showing any bottlenecking - but new host, there can't be any bottlenecking - it's a freaking beast.

@haitch U the guy that never sleeps?
-
@Marc Hardly, just had a 12 hour Benadryl nap .......

Get frickin Job!

@falconCoin Got one already thanks

@haitch isn't this a bit of an overkill for a minecraft server? haha
-
@Darkbane you should see the servers some of my clients are running minecraft on ........

That's state of the art grade A+++ for investment. That little LED counter is for BIOS post code reading i'm guessing and the ryzen is very energy efficient. Corsair vengeance is the best memory circuits ever .... years of service bliss! I see the capacitors and rf chokes that's a high grade mainboard it should last donkeys years!
-
@ZapbuzZ I like Asus motherboards, but chose this specific one because it's known to run VMWare without issue - apparently there are a lot of issues with other X399 boards.
-
@haitch i'll remember that for when I get a rizon board i like VMware myself. It goes to show you really do know what your doing. Way to go.
-
The forums have been migrated over to the new server. They seen snappier than they were, but I might be biased ....
Going to migrating other servers over, so there may be some random outages.
-
0-100 pool migrated, didn't even miss a block .... More services going over.
All the language web sites have been moved and back on line.
-
@haitch team and falcon pools moved, 2 of the online wallets also moved - rest are going now.
-
The pools and forums are going to be shutdown briefly around 930am CST so I can move the server onto the UPS. Shutdown time should be brief.

@haitch Maintenance complete - tooks a little longer than anticipated, but the server is back online, and I'm bring servers and services back online
