Need help with wallet setup on Ubuntu

  • I have a fresh install of Ubuntu server 16.04 and having trouble with the 1.6 wallet setup.
    I pulled in the package from http://package.cryptoguru.org/
    burst compile seems to have completed successfully.
    When I try to start the wallet I get errors like:
    [SEVERE] 2018-03-16 22:38:08 com.zaxxer.hikari.pool.HikariPool - HikariPool-1 - Exception during pool initialization.
    java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: Could not connect: Access denied for user 'burstcoincg'@'localhost' to database 'burstwallet'

    This is the database section in brs.properties:
    brs.dbUrl=jdbc:mariadb://localhost:3306/burstwallet
    brs.dbUsername=burstcoincg
    brs.dbPassword=password

    I know I didn't mistype my password, which is not "password", because I can test it with:

    [email protected]:/usr/share/burstcoincg$ mysql -u burstcoincg -p
    Enter password:
    Welcome to the MariaDB monitor. Commands end with ; or \g.
    Your MariaDB connection id is 37

    Type 'help;' or '\h' for help. Type '\c' to clear the current input statement.

    MariaDB [(none)]>

    What else do I need to check on?

  • Take a look on my maual how for Linux:

    https://www.burstforum.net/topic/8952/brs-2-0-0-wallet-installation-linux-with-maria-database-manual-installation

    Your error is : Access denied for user 'burstcoincg'@'localhost'

    Two possible causes: 1. wrong username and password for maria db. 2. Your Linux user doesn't have the rights to acces the maria database (3. database error).

    Use my step by step guide with copy and paste. I have been done on several PC and everytime its working fine without issues.

    So don't use the automatic script make it manual and its working 🙂

  • Thank you, BernMe.
    I bet cause #2 is the answer, but I'm going to go ahead and start over with a fresh install of Ubuntu 16.04.
    I'll come back and post how it ended up in a few days.
