@duncanvalen33 i have a couple of those and i can say i will never but that hdd again. I lost so much time plotting it. Plotting directly was so slow so i did plot to a better drive then copied it to this hdd and man i can tell you this hdd is worst than i ever expected.
-
I have a lot of these, and I will agree they do plot more slowly, but it is most noticeable if you're plotting one at a time. When I plotted 4 at a time, it wasn't terrible, it took around 2.5 days to plot all 4. The major attraction to the Seagates is the price, obviously. And if you have the patience for it, or the kind of machine to plot multiple drives simultaneously, they might be a good choice.

I have 50+ of these plotted them 4-6 at a time. Replotted twice more because I wanted to change account numbers. They all work fine.

i just ordered 5
takes me 32hrs to plot a 8tb WD drive so ill let you know how long it takes with one of these should have them in a few days
-
after a botched vaction where i left and forgot to turn remote desktop on so a loss of 8 days of plots the new drives and the current virus/cold that i swear is trying to kill me
this is where i stand on the drives
i bought 5 x 8tb dfrives
useing my gpu takes 119hrs per drive
now my 8tb WD drives plot in 37hrs with my gpu
so for plotting these suck but better gpu maybe get better then my speeds
-
@duncanvalen33 Nope, the drive is the bottleneck. Using TurboPlotter + an SSD Buffer will help, but still ..........

This might be of some help:
-
7.1 TB plotting took 10 days for me
everyday 10% done

@duncanvalen33 Get yourself an 8TB Seagate Barracuda or Barracuda Pro and plot to that first. Then copy to the Seagate expansion drive. I plot to a Barracuda Pro using a i7-8700k CPU at 40,000 nonces/min with TurboPlotter and it takes about 18 hours. Then I copy it to the Seagate expansion drive and it takes about 16 hours. It will start around 180MBs and then slowly slow down at the end to about 80MBs. In total it takes 34 hours. Best to get the Barracuda Pro for the longer warranty and larger MTBF. Read times with Blagominer are just as good as any other HDD at about 11sec if shucked and on a SATA connection. USB3.0 is about the same depending on how many drives connected to single HUB.
